Miranda
This is Miranda. I spotted her beautiful red hair from a distance near Hanveden on what was probably the last Summer day of the year. I knew that I had to stop and ask her for a portrait. Miranda wants to work with stage lighting when she graduates from secondary school next year. She is a graffiti artist and didn't want to tell me her street art name, but she told me about a place not far from where we met where she has done a few wall paintings. Only yesterday she did some work at the legal graffiti wall at Snösätra in Rågsved.

That Old Tree
This was probably the last Summer week of the year. It's been an unusual warm start to Autumn, and it is in fact still meteorological Summer here. Arriving to the old tree yesterday I had to bike through unusual traffic as the road suddenly filled up with a few hundred kids. They took the commuter to Tungelsta only to run back to Västerhaninge, a rather sweaty five km run in the warm weather is my guess.

Rockabilly Cherry Dress Miss Marla Kay Pin-up Girl Tattoo
This is Miss Marla Kay. She was NOT part of the Pin-up girl contest at the Classic Cars and Customs meet at Sundby Gård. And why is that I hear you ask? Because she organized the contest, and to be true had she entered she would probably have won the thing hands down. She looked a bit different from last year and I noticed that she had a new tattoo so I had to zoom in on that with the canon. Oh, and funny story here. The day after the event I was sipping coffee at my favorite cafe Malmens konditori in Handen when Miss marla Kay and her boyfriend walked in, small world as she put it!

Nothing like a brisk swim Oh that's cold!
Summer returned to Haninge today. It was 23C when I arrived to the beach at Årsta Havsbad at the Hårsfjärden bay. Not too many people around, but I did manage to photograph two Vikings that decided that it was warm enough for a dip. The water temperature was 16C/81F61F. I stayed on dry land. Took the first snap while sitting on a bench down at the water eating my lunch. The other guy turned up a little later as when I was on foot.

The Northern Girl
Summer returned and with it my lust for street portraits. I was enjoying a light lunch (two hot dogs), when a girl walked past where I was sitting. A couple of minutes later I spotted her from the bike and decided to ask her for a portrait. This is Jonna. Originally from up North, she grew up in Sundsvall Jonna lives in Haninge these days. She works at an insurance company. One of her big hobbies is music. She enjoyes Indie Rock and tries to go to as many festivals as she can.

Beach Life
It was nice of Summer to return to Haninge again. I stopped by the beach yesterday. No swimming for me but it was nice and sunny. This girl was at the beach with her boyfriend. They had chairs with them and hats and sat on the grassy area before deciding on some hard sunbathing on the sand.

The German Gesture? Holidaying in Sweden
I'm probably not up to date with the different cultural etiquette rules, so I can't be sure what this one means. Two of four German guys that I spotted at the beach today.

Boss Hoss Boss Hoss Boss Hoss
I visited the annual motorcycle meet at Vegabaren in Handen today. The Easy Rider Festival. Summer had returned and it was warm and sunny. Unfortunately the meet collided with the big Mälaren Runt motorcycle race which attracts around 25 000 riders, so Vegabaren wasn't too crowded this time around. This is a Boss Hoss bike. It will set you back nearly a million SEK.

That Old Tree
It started to rain as I took this photo yesterday. The wind picked up a bit and the temperature dropped. Looks like Summer is on the way out.

A new tradition
Hundreds of cars are being torched at the moment all around Sweden. Mostly in the suburbs. It is a new tradition. Dating back a few years, usually the week before the schools open again. This one looks to have been stolen first, and the torched at Hanveden, from where many people get their drinking water, including the Coca-Cola plant. Article in English about it at The Local.

Look! Peace
I took a few candid photos during the rock festival "Trädgårdsrocken", on Saturday, although I was spotted on a few occasions like you can see here when both Janne Jogenstedt and Victor St. Ekvall notices me. It was a fun day. Lots of new bands to listen to, and a few I had seen and heard before. I missed a few of them as I had to leave the park a few times during the day. If you have a minute feel free to look through the slideshow with all the photos from the festival, rock on!

They were selling t-shirts at the festival. No idea who the second photographer is but lets call him The Scorpion because of his tattoo.

Yellow Iris Gray Heron
This gray heron was standing on one of the piers at Lower Lake Rudan (Nedre Rudasjön), minding it's own business when I arrived to the nature reserve a while back. It didn't seem to bothered as I closed in, but when I came a little too close it stepped off the pier and into the lake so that I would get a good photo of it. Which was nice.

Folk Music Festival A Crowded Stage Audience & Musicians
There's a folk music festival at the old village in the Tyresta National Park every Summer. The Swedish name for such an event is Spelmansstämma. Not really my thing, and it has always collided with a few other more interesting events, but not this year so I jumped on the steel horse, stopped in Handen to ask a friend to tag along and off we went. We arrived at 1300 hours just minutes before the event started. I counted a few hundred people including a few familiar faces. It was very hot and sunny and we found the warmest cafe table and enjoyed a sandwich and some coffee as we started shooting. After the coffee we strolled around listening to all the music. The musicians probably had the most fun. They walked around with their instruments ready and formed new groups all afternoon. At one time I heard at least three different folk songs from three different directions! More photos tomorrow when I'm done with the editing.

Ramou
From a distance I spotted a girl in a long blue dress. So I headed that way in the hope of getting a portrait or two. This is Ramou (the name is Gambian). She lives in Handen and works for the project Lugna Gatan. They try to make the Stockholm underground a safer place for young people so she often works late nights and weekends. Her hobbies includes traveling and she told me about visiting Marocko, London and Gambia.

Fredrik Haake Break Down Zethzon
The last act to play at the rock festival in Tungelsta was a new band for me. Badge. I had some trouble describing their intensive performance and unique musical style, but I found a quote from Madcap Music Review: Badge is a furious mix of Mississippi Delta Blues, Led Zeppelin, and Psychobilly. One of those bands that are best live. At night. Outdoors, on a Summer evening and we got all that so it was a great finale of the festival. Enjoy the slideshow!

Sign of the horns Enkel Biljett Abramis Brama
A bit of Stoner rock in the Summer evening. Abramis Brama on stage during the rock festival in Tungelsta last Saturday. The name is the Latin word for Carp bream. The Stockholm band have played together since 1997. For a rock band today they are a but unconventional as they sing in Swedish and not English.
